Product Designer

Your product is a tangle. I turn it into something clear

Engineer by training, analyst and product owner along the way. I start from the structure of a product, not from the screens, so business, users and technology stay aligned from the first idea to the release

I start from the structure, not the interface

How I work

  1. Understand

I start by sitting next to the people who do the work. Interviews, observation, desk research. I want to see where their time really goes before I draw a single line.

  2. Structure

This is where the engineer in me takes over. I list every object, action and rule and map what depends on what, like solving a system of equations. Until the structure balances, no screen is worth drawing.

  3. Simplify

Then I subtract, and I enjoy it. The same operation living in three tools becomes one, overlapping steps merge, every element has to earn its place. This is where my mathematical mindset pays off most.

  4. Design

Only now do I open Figma. Wireframes, modular components, interface, all built on the structure I just mapped, so they stay clear, accessible and easy to scale.

  5. Validate

I put early prototypes in front of real users, old flow against new flow. I would rather be proven wrong on a prototype than after launch.

  6. Deliver

I hand over what developers can actually build: documented components, a shared design system, annotated specs. Then I measure, because a good structure shows in the numbers.

Where business, users and engineers meet

About

Giorgio Pulvirenti is a Product Designer based in Italy, working in Italian and English. He started in engineering, moved through business analysis and product ownership, and has focused on product design for the past four years. His projects cover a banking platform for bank operators, a retail layout quotation app, a bespoke shoe configurator and a mobile app for vanlifers.

Where business, users and engineers meet

I did not start in a design studio. I studied engineering, then spent years in business analysis and product ownership, in the rooms where budgets, users and developers pull in three directions. That is what I bring to design: I know what each side needs from the others, and I turn it into one clear product.

I design products after engineering, analysing and owning them

What if users, product and engineering spoke the same language? I keep asking because I spent years as the person standing between them.

Most products are not hard because they are complex. They are hard because nobody drew the map. I cannot unsee it now: in a banking back office, in a checkout, in an airport sign.

I also do not trust work that never leaves the desk. So I founded Origine Nomade, a real place where digital professionals work and connect in nature, and I travelled around Europe in a campervan talking to vanlifers before designing an app for them. Both taught me more about users than any workshop.

My goal? Make the hard stuff feel easy, and get it out the door.
